What does Certificate mean?
A digital certificate confirms an association between a public key and an identity or domain. TLS certificates support encrypted and authenticated HTTPS connections.

Where you might encounter it
Your browser opens a website over HTTPS and checks its certificate. A valid certificate enables a secure connection, but on its own says nothing about whether the offer is trustworthy.
